How It Works

One hand, from the deal to showdown.
- 1
Get your vowels
Two secret vowels are dealt to you face-down. Your opponent gets their own two. You never see theirs—they never see yours.
Example: You draw A and E. Your opponent draws A and U.
- 2
The flop—3 consonants drop
Three consonants appear on the board. Everyone sees them. Everyone can use them.
Board: S · N · T
- 3
First betting round
Check, bet, or fold. This is where the bluff starts. Your opponent doesn’t know if your vowels are A+E (great for this board) or I+O (nearly useless).
- 4
The turn—1 more consonant
A fourth consonant hits the board. The picture changes.
Board: S · N · T · R
- 5
Second betting round
The pot grows. Fold now and you lose everything you’ve put in. Call and you’re committed to showdown.
- 6
The river—final consonant
The fifth and last consonant appears. Your hand is locked.
Board: S · N · T · R · G
- 7
Final betting round
Last chance to push your opponent out—or get pushed out yourself.
- 8
Showdown
Reveal your words. The longest valid word wins the entire pot. Ties split.
You: STRANGE (S-T-R-A-N-G-E) = 7 letters, using your A+E + board S-T-R-N-G.
Bot: GRUNTS (G-R-U-N-T-S) = 6 letters, using their U + board G-R-N-T-S.
You win. The extra letter—and the better vowel match—takes the pot.

Frequently Asked Questions
What dictionary do you use?
The game's dictionary is curated and derived from the ENABLE dictionary. No proper nouns, abbreviations, or hyphenated words. Words are checked at Showdown.
Can I use any vowels I want?
No. You are limited to your two secret vowels plus the five shared consonants on the board. You cannot use your opponent’s vowels or add extra vowels.
What if we have the same word length?
Does Scrabble scoring matter?
No. A 7-letter word with common letters beats a 6-letter word with rare letters. Only length matters.
Can I reuse letters?
No. Each board letter can be used once per word, and each of your vowels can be used once. Standard spelling rules apply.
What if I can’t make any word?
Fold early—or bluff and hope your opponent folds first. A bad hand can still win if everyone else drops out.
How long does a hand take?
About 60 seconds against bots. Private games with friends take 2–3 minutes, depending on how much you trash-talk in chat.
